This position is located at Consumer Financial Protection Bureau, COMMUNICATIONS. As a Public Affairs Specialist, you will serve as speechwriter for senior CFPB officials and to perform other assignments communicating information to the news media and general public regarding the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau.

Responsibilities

As a Public Affairs Specialist, you will:

  • Develop, research, and provide written material on CFPB actions, policies and positions for a wide range of audiences. Ensure each presentation is tailored to both presenter and audience.
  • Work with senior CFPB officials to identify appropriate message and audience for speaking opportunities. Provide advice on the effective communication of information.
  • Develop and write information materials designed to reach selected national audiences through the news media such as wire services, radio, television, newspapers, and magazines. Contribute to the development of social media content, fact sheets, feature articles for magazines and trade papers, and other information materials.
  • Work both proactively and reactively in dealing with media interest or requests about CFPB program activities. Advise and recommend proactive approaches for avoiding and/or resolving problems and reducing conflicts.
